Usamos whether<\/strong> quando damos mais de uma op\u00e7\u00e3o. Ao usarmos whether<\/strong>, n\u00e3o precisamos necessariamente explicitar todas as alternativas, elas ficam subentendidas e s\u00e3o sempre delimitadas. Normalmente o sentido de whether<\/strong> \u00e9 “se… ou n\u00e3o…’. Observe a seguir:

I don\u2019t know whether she\u2019s in or out.<\/strong><\/div>\n
(N\u00e3o sei se ela est\u00e1 dentro ou fora.)<\/em><\/span>

Note que nas senten\u00e7as acima estamos falando de op\u00e7\u00f5es.

Nos casos em que o se tem fun\u00e7\u00e3o disjuntiva, mas a segunda parte da frase fica subentendida (geralmente algo como \u201cou n\u00e3o\u201d), \u00e9 comum o uso de if<\/strong> na linguagem informal.<\/div>\n

I don\u2019t know if he went swimming.<\/strong><\/div>\n
(N\u00e3o sei se ele foi nadar (ou n\u00e3o).)<\/em><\/span>

3) Costuma-se usar \u2018whether\u2018 ap\u00f3s palavras como \u2018know\u2018<\/em>, \u2018ask\u2018<\/em>, \u2018wonder<\/em>\u2018, \u2018discuss\u2018<\/em>, \u2018decide\u2018<\/em> e algumas outras. Em um contexto mais informal podemos usar \u2018if\u2018 ap\u00f3s elas, mas a regra gramatical diz que \u00e9 melhor usarmos \u2018whether\u2018.
